During the day’s proceedings, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian asked Combs how he was feeling.
“I’m doing great, Your Honor,” Combs replied. “I’ve been wanting to tell you thank you — you’re doing an excellent job.”
The judge responded with a chuckle at the compliment.
The defense concluded its case in just 23 minutes, opting to read a series of text messages between Combs and Casandra “Cassie” Ventura into the record.
“You think you can [Freak-Off] without getting high? Lol,” Combs wrote in one of the messages.
“Yeah, I’ll just have to be at my level and what is good for me,” Ventura replied, according to the defense’s reading.
The prosecution declined to present a rebuttal.
Closing arguments are scheduled for Thursday, June 26. Jury deliberations may begin as early as Friday but are more likely to start the following Monday.
Combs faces serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty.
Over the course of 29 days, the prosecution called 34 witnesses, including several women who alleged years of abuse by Combs — among them Ventura, who was in a relationship with him for 11 years.
