On October 16th, international cricketer and philanthropist, Dwayne Bravo hosted his annual charity event, Party47, at Queen’s Hal Garden Theatre in St. Ann’s. The event’s proceeds would be donated to the Credo Foundation – a home for boys on Nelson Street in Port-of-Spain.
The event was well attended, with patrons forking out $647 per ticket for an evening of all inclusive fun, while giving back. Entertainers included Iwer George, Swappi, Shurwayne Winchester, College Boi Jesse, Orlando Octave, KMC who came on with Iwer and Bravo himself, who recently dropped a new song collaboratively done with Iwer. Erphaan Alves was also a part of the entertainment and it was then and there that he made it abundantly clear that Soca event fetters have got to look and sound alive, no matter the occasion, no matter the place. “Yo me eh hearin’ allyuh inno. Ah want everybody from front to back to sing it out,” he shouted, in no uncertain terms, highlighting the need for the audience to be eager participants of live entertainment.
Recently, Nadia Batson, in a social media post, called out people who attend events only to stand erect, looking on and barely moving, toward the front of the stage. “De frontline is not yuh area!!!” she scolded.
