The rapper has filed a defamation lawsuit against his former hype man, Terrance Dixon, after being accused of pedophilia and other serious crimes—claims Joe is calling “completely false” and “part of a criminal conspiracy.”
According to court documents, Dixon allegedly launched a social media smear campaign, posting what the suit describes as “wholly fabricated, grotesque, and scandalous allegations,” including accusations of statutory rape and sexual assault.
The legal drama traces back to Dixon’s claims that Joe—whose real name is Joseph Cartagena—blocked him from receiving funding from a record label. Dixon allegedly sought compensation for his uncredited work as a ghostwriter and vocalist from 2006 to 2019.
Things escalated in April when Dixon, through his attorney Tyrone Blackburn, allegedly threatened to file a complaint accusing Joe of sex trafficking, fraud, and forced labor—claims the rapper flatly denies. Joe says Blackburn sent a series of threatening emails with statements like, “Playtime is over,” and “We will report him to Homeland Security.”
On Instagram, Dixon reportedly accused the Terror Squad frontman of being involved with an underage girl, calling him a pedophile—sparking widespread online backlash.
In a public statement, Fat Joe declared, “These allegations are completely false and part of a criminal conspiracy orchestrated between a disgruntled former hype man and his attorney. These two individuals have been scheming together to extort me with their elaborate and ludicrous demands changing by the day.”
He added, “The relentless threats, harassment, and defamation I’ve endured as they peddle salacious lies are utterly deplorable… I’m fully confident that the facts will reveal this is nothing more than a deceptive and desperate scam.”
Dixon’s lawyer isn’t backing down. Blackburn responded by calling Joe’s lawsuit “baseless,” claiming it’s an attempt to get ahead of more revelations. “It won’t work. Fat Joe has a lot of explaining to do.”
