She recently shared her appreciation for fellow artist Voice, who has been engaging fans online with a new social media challenge – The Sabga Open Verse challenge. Melly says based on what she’s observed, Voice has offered young performers a chance to showcase their talent in songwriting and vocal execution.
As someone who has also championed youth talent through her own platform, Melly Rose says she recognizes the value of initiatives like these. In 2024, she produced and hosted “Spotlight Caribbean,” a digital series highlighting up-and-coming artists from across the region.“Spotlight Caribbean” featured a wide range of fresh talent, including Anika Berry, known
for her soulful tone and stage presence; Kev, a boundary-pushing artist fusing Trinibad and Afro-Caribbean styles; and many other voices representing the vibrant future of Caribbean music.
“It’s encouraging to see more artistes opening doors for others,” Melly said. “When we lift each other up, we strengthen the entire industry. I’ve seen first hand how much it means to someone when they’re given a platform to be seen and heard.”As more creatives step into mentorship and production roles, Melly believes the entertainment landscape in Trinidad and Tobago is heading in a promising direction.
Several new and known artistes have submitted verses, adding their vocals to the challenge. Among the entrants is 47Ronzy – an artiste aligned to Dwayne Bravo’s 47 Productions.
