Aptly entitled, ‘Anxiety’ the single, which comes complete with a new video, details the feelings experienced by the entertainer herself, but expresses the relief Soca music brings when experienced.
In a media release, Roberts’ team said, “For many suffering from mental health challenges, the still taboo conversation is seldom addressed in music, let alone Soca music. As daunting of a conversation, Patrice is using her love for music to acknowledge the challenges that many others share globally.”
Calling the track her “most sincere song,” Roberts explained that the song’s theme was decided on after interaction in studio with fellow industry cohorts, Kit Israel, Mevon Soodeen and David Milien of Millbeatz Productions. The statement read, “A visibly “moody” Patrice could not give those present any feedback, which begged them to question what was wrong with her. At that moment, with teary eyes, Patrice revealed that she was having a tough day, which had been brought on by anxiety. She was encouraged to share more with the group. This in turn, sparked the creation of the new single.
Accompanied by a new music video, Patrice says she hopes this projects aids in removing any stigma of shame or misconceptions associated with anxiety and other forms of mental health issues.
