He met TJ his manager when the young entrepreneur was still in high school in Jamaica, but globally recognized entertainer, Vybz Kartel credits the man who is ten years his junior, with keeping things together for him when it comes to business.
In a recent chat with GQ Magazine, Kartel who continues to engage in international promotion, outlined TJ’s importance as not just his manager but also his booking agent, in the interview. “My next essential and probably my most important essential is my brother and manager,” said Kartel. He explained that TJ who owns TJ Records, handles everything for him, inclusive of bookings, flight and hotel reservations and more. “He makes sure my life goes as smoothly as possible,” said the artiste. “I like to say during my interviews- if I can’t remember something, “Ask TJ,” and that slang has become viral in Jamaica. It’s crazy.”
Kartel who sold out the Barclay’s Centre in back to back shows in March, and now lives in Florida, said his first essential is the Holy Bible and proceeded to quote Psalm 91 during the interview. The artiste was asked to highlight his 10 Daily Essentials for fans. He included room temperature water and two Rolex watches which he wears together – one on each hand.
