Social media has been abuzz after news emerged that 5 Star Akil has been baptized and in so doing has chosen to honor Jesus Christ in his words and actions.
The former sound man, radio presenter and Soca artist spoke on the fact that he had been shot five times and survived, has walked away from the Soca music industry and has even ventured into a new business, all the while expressing, that nothing was too difficult for Jesus Christ.
One year ago, Akil released a Soca track called, ‘Forward.’ The song echoed the sentiment, ‘this life is a celebration,’ and encouraged fans of soca to raise their glasses in acknowledgement of this. Fast forward to December 2022 and the ‘Love Potion’ singer has embraced another of life’s mysteries, trusting his spirituality to lead him onward.
In response to the news, many have applauded the move, congratulating Akil on the leap of faith. Beneath Akil’s social media post, fellow entertainer, Olatunji Yearwood wrote, “brought tears to my eyes bro very inspiring.” Other artistes and Caribbean socialites, shared ‘praying hands’ emojis. Alison Hinds also commented on Akil’s revelation writing, “Only you know your journey.”
