In a statement shared on social media, Joy said she was never asked for permission regarding the filming and later faced threats from an individual connected to the footage. According to her account, the person demanded a substantial payment in exchange for keeping the video private.
“I was blackmailed by the person in the video and was threatened that if I didn’t give him the lump sum of money, they would leak it on the web,” Joy wrote.
After refusing to pay, she alleges that the individual sold the tape to a media company. Joy said the outlet contacted her before any potential release, seeking a response.
“The media outlet called me one day and said they had the tape and asked if I had any comment before the release. It was the first time I ever fainted in my life,” she stated.
Joy further explained that the media organization ultimately chose not to air the footage after learning more about the circumstances surrounding its acquisition.
“Once the media company understood the tape they purchased was r** p*** and an extortion scheme, they backed off from broadcasting it,” she said.
Despite that decision, the video eventually surfaced online. Joy described revisiting the footage as an emotionally difficult and triggering experience.
“It took me all day to find the courage to rewatch my abuse,” she wrote. “Having to watch this tape was triggering and painful because only I knew the inner turmoil and pressures I felt in those moments.”
She characterized the relationship dynamics at the time as emotionally coercive, saying she often prioritized her partner’s wishes over her own comfort and personal boundaries.
“I just wanted my man at the time to be happy and satisfied. I wanted to fulfill all his desires, even if that meant breaking my own boundaries,” she said. “I deeply loved him, and I believed he loved me too.”
Joy concluded by reflecting on the personal growth and self-awareness that followed the experience, saying it transformed the way she views herself and her sense of ownership over her body.
“This is the first time that I have ever felt a part of my own body and that my body belongs to me. I am precious, I am special, I am worthy.”
