The tune, which blends traditional Nashville twang with modern pop-country production, racked up over 3 million Spotify streams in less than a month, propelling it past some of the genre’s biggest names. But its rapid rise has also sparked an uproar across the music industry, and the internet.
On TikTok, fans and artists are fiercely divided. Some have praised “Walk My Walk” as a creative breakthrough, applauding the possibilities of technology in music. Others, however, have voiced concern about the implications for human musicians, with hundreds of videos and comment threads debating whether an algorithm can or should capture the soul of country music.
Billboard has confirmed that Breaking Rust is a fully AI-generated project, joining a growing list of virtual artists that have recently made their way onto its charts.
