Hundreds of fans and hopeful streamers packed the area around John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan on Friday, with some reportedly spending the night outside to secure a spot during the in-person application process.
The free event, designed to help emerging creators develop their skills, network and collaborate with others in the streaming industry, drew such large numbers that police were deployed to manage the crowds. A police helicopter was also seen monitoring the situation from above.
Excitement peaked when Cenat arrived at the campus, with supporters cheering as the internet star entered the venue.
Despite the huge turnout, attendees were only taking part in the application stage of the process. Successful applicants will still need to be selected before officially joining Streamer University.
The New York event is the first of three planned stops for the programme. Additional application events are scheduled for Los Angeles on Sunday and Atlanta next week.
The strong turnout highlights Cenat’s growing influence among young digital creators and underscores the increasing demand for opportunities that help aspiring streamers build careers in the rapidly expanding online content industry.
