Blaka Dan Wins New Soca Artiste of the Year at CMA’s

There's a lot to celebrate in entertainment, as a Caribbean community.

Grenadian born, Trinidadian raised soca artiste, Blaka Dan recognizes this and is determined to do just that. In a media release, the artiste shared his excitement and gratitude, having won the Caribbean Music Award for Best New Soca Artiste.

The Caribbean Music Awards was held on August 28th in Brooklyn, New York and was aired on BET on September 12th. Many artistes remained mum on their achievements at the third installment of the award show, awaiting the show’s release on BET last Friday. Now, the world knows that Blaka Dan who won Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Champions title in 2025, has officially stamped his name among the genre’s elite.

Congratulatory messages have been forthcoming since the announcement of Blaka Dan’s win. He says he is dedicating the moment to his fans worldwide, and thanked the event’s organizers for providing an opportunity for Caribbean artistes to be recognized.“Thank you to everybody that voted for me. Thank you to everyone who supported me,” said the artiste. “To even be acknowledged in itself is just a blessing, and honestly speaking, I would have been content with that, but the fact that I won though, I’m entirely grateful,” he said.
