The 34-year-old entertainer who was married to female rapper, Cardi B, was shot in the leg during a fight at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
According to the Miami Herald, the suspect also is a well-known hip-hop artist known as Lil Tjay.
Lil Tjay, 24, has more than 8 million followers on Instagram and is signed to Columbia Records. The police have not released more details, and the Miami Herald has requested an arrest report. Merritt remained in Broward County jail with a $500 bond Tuesday morning. Police detained another person when they arrived at the hotel, but there was no arrest or charges as of Tuesday, Bitner said.
