Over the weekend, President Trump claimed that “Islamic terrorists” were being allowed to kill Christians in Nigeria. He warned that if the violence continued, the U.S. could pull aid and intervene militarily.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, President Trump wrote, “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet.”
T&T born, Nicki Minaj appeared to back his comments, sharing a screenshot of the post and writing, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order to respect each other.” The rapper continued, “Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror and it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice.”
She closed her message with, “Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
Trump’s remarks have drawn scrutiny internationally with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu telling the BBC that violence in the country affects people “across faiths and regions,” noting that Christians and Muslims alike have been victims of deadly attacks this year.
Still, it was Nicki’s response that lit up social media. Many fans accused the artist of siding with Republicans. One fan wrote, “MAGA has been weaponizing religion to silence YOUR gay fans.”
In a now-deleted reply, captured by The Independent, Nicki allegedly fired back, “Imagine hearing the Christians are being MURDERED & making it about you being gay.”
