Is dancehall artiste, Shenseea turning a new leaf? The singer has released a new track called, “Curious,” and in it, she suggests that maybe she is curious about an alternate sexual lifestyle.
The single, released on Friday, has caught the attention of some of the singer’s fans who lament what they see it as Shenseea’s desire to make it further into the mainstream market internationally. Others argue that it’s simply art.
Shenseea has been exploring various music delivery methods since her move to the United States after her mother’s sudden passing in June 2020. A new management team acquired and inroads made onto red carpets and award show parties have undoubtedly given rise to the artiste’s international popularity, however fans back home in the Caribbean have constantly questioned the singer’s moves. “So in other words we have to do all manner of evil to be so called famous,” wrote one person beneath the new track. Another said, “This does not promote Caribbean culture. What the heck is this?” Another person said Shen’s US team has her selling herself short.
On the flip side however, die hard fans of the dancehall beauty suggested that Caribbean people should simply support her efforts, rather than tear her down. “You all are so stupid and bias bad. For women, we hate women. Y’all complain about Shenseea song but y’all listen to men dis us,” said one woman. Despite the supportive comments by some however, many argue that the music they enjoyed from the Jamaican dancehall singer just isn’t the same. “Her old music was better. This isn’t for you,” wrote one fan.
Shenseea released an album dubbed, “Alpha” in 2022.
