Despite a bit of negative reporting out of her homeland Jamaica, following news that she did not win the VMA award in the category for which she was nominated, Shenseea stayed happy throughout the event on Sunday night.
Following the publishing of a Jamaica Observer article with the headline, “Shenseea Misses Out At MTV Music Video Awards,” the singer who has made immense strides internationally, wrote, “I get more love from foreigners than my own place of birth and everyone can see that. Cuz huh? How about thank you for repping [Jamaica] and putting in the work to even get nominated after so long?.”
The artist who was the only Jamaican nominee at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, added, “Like, I’m really trying to be humble but y’all making it hard for me with the hypocrisy ALL THE TIME.”
Despite the negative publicity back home in Jamaica, Shenseea seemed to have enjoyed the night, posting videos of herself at the event, in one caption saying, “I ain’t got time for lame energy. I got a dream to chase.”
The MTV VMA’s was held at New Jersey’s Prudential Center. On the red carpet, Shenseea made heads turn, wearing an eye catching ensemble from Marc Jacobs’ SS22 collection.
