Former Road March, Power Soca and Groovy Soca monarch King, Shurwayne Winchester, an artiste fueled by good music with rich history, says his latest release, which features entertainer, Yung Bredda, is a dream come true.
A fan of Calypso classics, Shurwayne was permitted to put his signature style and sound onto Baron’s classic 1986 hit, ‘Doh Rock It So,’ – a track originally arranged by Leston Paul. Together with T&T’s King of Steam, Yung Bredda, he has reimagined a song that speaks life into present-day T&T entertainment- reminding this generation of music creators and dominating sound engineers of a time when music was created solely with the desire to make people move.
Shurwayne said working with Yung Bredda on the project was a valuable experience for him and sees great things in store for the young artiste on the rise. On Sunday, the legendary entertainer who has given the world hits like, ‘De Band Coming’ ‘Carnival Please Stay,’ ‘Open De Gate’ and ‘Come Beta’ alongside Destra Garcia, closed the show at the grand finale of Tobago Day celebrations. The event, which featured a drone show was held at the Scarborough Esplanade. “I think it’s important that we never for a second forget the people who’ve given us music to bring us to this point. This remake of Baron’s classic hit, could never be like the original but I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to give this great song new life, in 2025.
Yung Bredda meanwhile, has already released songs like ‘Inch by Inch’ and ‘Who Badder’ alongside Lyrikal, along with this classic collaboration with Shurwayne and Baron, ahead of Carnival 2026.
